Abstract
Radiation during SPI mitigated disruptions in tokamaks is typically highly localized and toroidally asymmetric. Combined with the sparse bolometer coverage, this can present a problem for the determination of the radiated power and its spatial distribution. To address this, the Emis3D tool has previously been applied at DIII-D and JET (B. Stein-Lubrano *et al* 2024 *Nucl. Fusion* **64** 036020). Emis3D uses forward modeling to find the best fit to the experimental bolometer data from a library of 3D radiation structures. Emis3D has now been implemented to the foil bolometer data from SPI mitigated disruptions at the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak. This talk will describe the initial experience with the implementation and also the first results. Plans for further development will also be outlined with the main goal of eventually allowing for comparison with the results from JET.
