Runaway Electron Radiation

Runaway electrons emit different kinds of radiation. With SOFT, one can study the highly anisotropic forms of radiation called synchrotron and bremsstrahlung radiation, both of which are emitted almost entirely in the particle's direction of motion. On this page we explain key elements of synchrotron and bremsstrahlung radiation, show how they depend on the runaway electron distribution function and give tips for measuring runaway electron radiation.
